Congress of Aboriginal Peoples, National Chief Betty Ann Lavallée, will hold a press conference to discuss the impact that the Federal Court of Appeal decision could have on Métis and non-Status Indians in the case of Daniels vs. Canada. The Federal Court of Appeal is expected to release its decision at approximately 10 a.m., Thursday, April 17, 2014, which could have a major impact on the relationship between the Government of Canada and the more than 600,000 Aboriginal Peoples of Canada who now live off-reserve. The event will be held in the Charles Lynch Theatre, S-130, Center Block – Parliament Buildings.
