Here is The Lobby Monitor's weekly roundup of stories.
This week, we published a story on Lobbying Commissioner Karen Shepherd's annual report. The report mentioned that lobbying for a broadcasting licence from the broadcast regulator is not a registrable activity under the Lobbying Act. We also published a story on Conservative MP Cheryl Gallant's new private members' bill that looks to amend the Lobbying Act and require the disclosure of lobbying backed by foreign money. We published a a story on registrations, including another registration from the Koch brothers' Koch Business Solutions LP, which hired Dan Fontaine, a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Mississauga to lobby on international tax issues. In On Queen Street, we wrote about the departure from Telus Corp. of former government relations director André Fortin, who is now a Liberal member of the Quebec National Assembly for the riding of Pontiac, Que.
Don't forget to look at our weekly, sortable lists, published end-of-day every Friday, showing the week's new registrations and communications reports.
