Committee to explore removing ‘friend’ exception from ethics rules

Ethics Commissioner Mary Dawson says that because it's difficult to define who qualifies as a friend, the better approach might be to remove the exception that gives public office holders some cover from conflicts of interest when a friend offers them a gift.
