Canada ‘should not relent’ in trade talks, say industry reps who say auto sector needs zero tariffs

Prime Minister Mark Carney said in an Aug. 1 statement that sectors including lumber, steel, aluminum, and autos are 'heavily impacted' by U.S. duties and tariffs, and that, for such sectors, 'the Canadian government will act to protect Canadian jobs, invest in our industrial competitiveness, buy Canadian, and diversify our export markets.'
