Kids, parents, MPs and staffers alike can celebrate as The Shaw Rocket Fund brings their popular Rocket Prize awards ceremony back to Ottawa for a fourth year. Well-known for its much beloved poutine and candy stations, this year’s event is featuring a new format with three prizes of $25,000 being awarded to the best independently produced Canadian programs in the pre-school, children’s and youth/family categories. The Shaw Rocket Prize is one of the largest prizes of its kind in Canada created by the Shaw Rocket Fund and Shaw Communications.
Hope Live is back again this year, raising funds to support Fertile Future, a national charitable foundation working to enrich the lives of young people diagnosed with cancer, by promoting awareness and understanding of fertility preservation and survivor issues. The Mental Health Commission of Canada along with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) will officially be launching the results of a research project on the “Aspiring Workforce”. The term describes those people who, due to mental illness have been unable to enter the workforce, or who are in and out of the workforce due to episodic illness, or who wish to return to work after a lengthy period of illness.
The awards, hosted by Tom Clark and Marie Claude Lavallée, honour outstanding Canadian journalism that enhances the public's understanding of health, the health system and the role of health professionals.
