Canadian Association of Chain Drug Stores (CACDS), the national association representing community pharmacy in Canada, hosts its first PharmacyWoRx on the Hill Day. The association hired consultants earlier this year to plan the day.
First celebrated in 1996, National Mining Week recognizes the importance of the Canadian mining industry to the economic development of Canada. The event is organized by the Government of Canada.
Enbridge's executive vice president for western access Janet Holder will speak to the Canadian Club of Toronto about "Putting Canada First: The Case for Northern Gateway." She will discuss how the proposed controversial project will safely move Canadian crude oil beyond North America and onto world energy markets. She will talk about how the project will diversify the customer base for Canada’s energy exports, a linchpin of the nation’s economy, and connect to the growing energy markets of the Pacific Rim nations.
Minister of Natural Resources Joe Oliver will deliver opening remarks at the 12th annual Forum on Hydorpower 2012. The forum is organized by the Canadian Hydropower Association and will take place May 14 to 16 at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa. The theme for this year's forum is "New Directions in Working Collaboratively."

Many lobby and advocacy groups took to the Hill this week after MPs returned to Ottawa following a two-week break. Among them, the fire fighters' union, which drew MPs from all parties with a non-partisan message, RV dealers and laboratory technicians. A delegation of Peruvians at odds with a Canadian mining company kicked off their Canadian tour by taking their message to some MPs and pain advocates called for a national strategy but failed to score the presence of government MPs at their summit.
