The Association of Canadian Community Colleges and Nova Scotia Community College are co-hosts of the World Congress 2012 of the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics. The event, entitled "Driving the Global Economy," will stimulate dialogue on the profound influence of education on societies, economies and communities. Themes include: Advanced Skills for Economic and Social Development; Local and Global Innovation; Indigenous Peoples; Access for the Disadvantaged; Sustainability; Transformational Leadership.

Greg Stringham, the vice-president of oil sands and markets at the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) will discuss the pertinence of the oil sands to Ontario at an Economic Club of Canada luncheon in Toronto. His speech is called "Canada's Oil Sands: Preserving Canada's economic edge through smart policy and innovation." 

The Canadian Library Association (CLA) is holding its 67th annual National Conference and Trade Show from May 30 to June 2 at the Ottawa Convention Centre in Ottawa. The CLA will also hold its first lobby day on Parliament Hill May 30.

Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia Pacific Gateway Ed Fast will discuss Canada- European Union trade at an Economic Club of Canada breakfast on April 27. He will speak about the importance of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) in a speech called "Canada-EU Trade: Bringing Jobs and Prosperity to Harworking Canadians."

Canada's Building Trades Unions, the Canadian branch of the Building and Construction Trades Department of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), is holding its annual lobby day on the Hill May 15.
